Found Cat

  1. Cat Found – A female gray/brown cat has been hanging around our driveway on W. Lake Desire Dr SE across from the boat launch for a week or so.  It is friendly, soft and purrs when petted. No collar. If you are missing a cat, please contact Heather Smith, 425-917-9533, Heather@smith.net.
  2. Ice Danger - Beware of shallow ice on our lake.  Parents of children and owners of pets should be mindful! Submitted by Julie Berquist, nobudyzhome@hotmail.com.
  3. Lake Desire Burglary/Prowling Reports – Neighbors living in the cul-de-sac area on the corner of W. Lake Desire Dr Se and Woodside were burglarized while they were out of town last week. They took about what 2 guys could carry, and used their bags even, so they assume they are on foot.  The day after the robbery, another neighbor was driving in their driveway, and saw a man walking out of his driveway to speak with him---(mid 20's to 30 Lg. African American man). He stated he was new in the area, here a couple of weeks from Georgia, and trying to get acquainted with those in the area.  He then headed out of the cul-de-sac down the road.  The neighbors went up, and spotted a police car---who was responding to a call from another neighbor.  Same man had been there.  The police said he's been reported by others around Lake Desire, The Parks, and Woodside.   They take cash, gaming systems, laptops, and anything else quick and easy. We have received word of a similar burglary in Woodside where they took the Wii and a laptop.  Please keep an eye out for this man or any other suspicious people walking in our area, and call 911.  Submitted by Lynn Glessner, lglessner@gmail.com and Lynn Jameson, snips4@aol.com.
  4. Lake Desire Burglary/Prowling Update – We are near the cul-de-sac on the corner of W. Lake Desire Dr Se and Woodside. On Monday Dec. 7th I was working in the yard and a man of the description in your report came onto my property. The man looked about 25, wore a black hood, he was about 6’ 2”, short hair, medium build, dark black skin, very red lips, and had some kind of an accent.  He said he was a part of a group investigating employment opportunities in the area. When I told him I was not interested, and to leave the property, he got upset and asked if it was because he was black. On Tuesday Dec. 8th I saw him and another man with a hood up, about 5’ 10” walking on Petrovitsky.  Submitted by Kevin, kevinthomaier@hotmail.com   (Please be careful when confronting people on your property as they could be dangerous or even armed.)
  5. Lake Desire Christmas Party – Friday, Dec. 18th, 5:30-7:30pm – We have a special guest Santa for our Christmas Party this year. He has been the Macy's Santa for 10 years and at South Center and Super Mall before that for a total of 15 years.  He has a real beard. So bring your kids and your cameras. Hot dogs, punch and dessert will be served.  There will also be crafts, gifts and time to meet your neighbors.  This year, we are asking for donations of canned food for those in need.  If you would like to volunteer for this event, please contact Heather Smith, Heather@smith.net.
  6.  Nominations – It is time for annual nominations for the Lake Desire President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  We are also looking for Lake Desire Community Members to volunteer for a two year position on the Board.  Anyone who is a Community Member for at least a year, and has attended 2 functions over the year is eligible for these positions.  Please send in your nominations by 12/31/09 so we can send out ballots in the mail in January.  If you have not attended any functions, but are still interested in volunteering, we can find a place for you!  Contact Heather Smith, Heather@smith.net. Thanks!
  7. Annual Lake Desire Newsletter – We are getting ready for our annual newsletter to go out in January.  If you have any news or ads, please send them to Heather Smith, Heather@smith.net by 12/31/09.
